Wishlist: Interior Design Feb 2016
Lately I find myself considering my domestic space with more thought and attention. I am drawn to spaces that combine vintage pieces with quirky, colourful accents. Like many, I have budget constraints for expenditures on home décor and furniture. I find creative combinations of affordable large pieces, with great flea market finds, and the occasional big ticket accent piece, is a great way to achieve my desired result.
A few highlights from my current wishlist:
- Patterned letter decals from Walls Need Love: I have two decals from this brand in my home already, although none of these charming letters. They are quick to apply, and a cost-conscious way to add character and colour to a space. I love the whimsy of this triangle print: these letters would be great to spell out initials of roommates or family members.
- Mountain scene decal, cool tones from Walls Need Love: I love the calm feeling of this image. I have a similar one in my living room and it adds a rustic sense, as well as providing a ‘window’ effect in the space. A great option for basement apartments with minimal windows or outdoor views.
- Geometric lamp from Panselinos on Etsy: This lamp would be fantastic accent piece over a dining table or in a creative studio. The black and red colours have an industrial feel and would pair well with stainless steel or wood.
- Ceramic owl from by Jonathan Adler: This owl sculpture is so charming, and for the art historian in me, has a vintage, minimalist appeal I love. However, I have been told by my significant other that we have a surplus of ceramic animals in our home already…overkill or just a charming idiosyncrasy?
